Do you love Yoga and want to enrich your practise?
Have your yoga classes sparked your curiosity, and you want to learn more about Yoga?
Perhaps yoga has nurtured you, and in future you'd like to share that with others through teaching?
In this British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course you’ll come together with a group of like-minded people to explore yoga in greater depth than is possible in your usual weekly classes.
By the end of the course you’ll have expanded your knowledge on a wide range of topics including:
Asana (yoga postures) and basic anatomy
Yoga philosophy, and how it applies to your life on and off the yoga mat
Chakras and the energy body
The history and paths of yoga
Sanskrit - basic terms and posture names
Relaxation & meditation techniques
How to develop and sustain your own yoga practise
The course is a journey of self-growth and personal development, giving you tools and techniques to apply to your everyday life. It also provides you with a strong foundation and smooth progression towards the Diploma course if you wish to later train as a yoga teacher (although this is not a pre-requisite for the BWY Teacher Training).
How much study is involved?
There are 60 hours of contact time, one Sunday a month over 10 months.
While there are no written assignments or assessments, you are encouraged to develop your own home yoga practice and record your learning and observations.
This will be supported with access to the Foundation Course Student Portal on the Radiance Yoga website, with recorded classes based on each of the study days plus guided relaxations and meditations. A selection of handouts and presentations will also be available in the Portal. New content is released each month after the study days and is available to you for the duration of the course.
There will be some suggested reading between study days.
Study days are held in the Village Hall in Great Gidding, Cambridgshire and close to the borders of Northamptonshire. Easily accessed from the A1, Great Gidding is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
(* Should further lockdowns prevent us from meeting in person for our study days, these sessions will move to Zoom)
